  9. This system is used as a private online club.  It is  our aim  to  bring people
  10. together for relaxed,  entertaining  conversation.   At the  same time,  we can
  11. serve as a way to  obtain  information: when there's  something  a member wants
  12. to  know,  he or she  frequently  finds that  another  member  of the club  can
  13. help out.

  24. Non-members do  not  have access to the all-important READ command.  Their list
  25. of commands is short and simple:

  39. You can use the SEND command to leave a message  about yourself.   You can tell
  40. us what  interests  you,  or state your opinion on  something.   You can  leave
  41. several messages, on several occasions, if you wish.

  43. We  regularly  read these messages from potential members.  If we feel that you
  44. are the sort of person  who would enjoy our company, we'll make you a member.
  45.  
  46. In  most cases,  getting  accepted  for membership involves SENDing only two or
  47. three messages over the course of a few days.  After you've introduced yourself
  48. in this way,  call in  every couple  of days to  check  your  membership level.
  49. (The membership level  is  reported  at the start  of your  visit,  right after
  50. the announcements, if any.)
